Thomas the Tank Engine, fictional childrens story train engine. Originated in England from the mind of Anglican minister Reverend Wilbert Awdry who began telling the stories to his son Christopher in 1942 with Thomas being a simple wooden train that belonged to Christopher.
Thomas was a pilot train who longed for more responsibility by bigger trains like Gordon and eventually proves himself enough to get his own line.
